Jenny and Dan.
I think back to when we met in September of last year. I was there early because I left an hour early, I am a horrendous parallel parker and was scared of city driving.
Jenny and I sat together as Dan grabbed some warm drinks. I remember talking a little bit about traveling out to South Pond Farms a couple hours from the city then, but when Dan returned from the line up of caffeine deprived students, photography took over the conversation. I’m often reserved when I talk about the “art” of what I do, or even cameras, sometimes I never know how people are going to receive my thoughts on it, but Dan was encouraging and beyond that, excited. Jenny listened knowingly. I soon found out Dan is a designer and quite a talented photographer himself. We covered iconic photos, inspiring projects, our favourite photographers, and books. We talked for at least an hour and jumping between wedding plans, and photography.
Working with Dan and Jenny was everything I love about photographing weddings. There was tears and love and laughter and memories and family and good light and adorable kids and a gorgeous venue. I know I’m there to take pictures, but I helped Jenny’s mom with the dress, and Dan shared his Romanian wine, or was it Vodka. I was a part of day, not just a photographer and felt welcomed from the start to the end.
Dan and Jenny both encouraged me to push the envelope, be true to the vision, and shoot what what you see. I hope you enjoy their photos as much as I do.
