Marieve watched the backyard fill with family, the closest of friends, her people. It had been a while since she had been home.
“It’s going to be really low key. I’m from Oakville Ontario, Jeff is from Washington and we met in LA where we both now live.”
She stood in the bathtub, peering over the ledge of the century old home she grew up in, careful not to catch a glimpse of Jeff. It was a moment I stumbled upon. I had been downstairs photographing the arrival of “just thirty or so family members, several octogenarians.” Marieve held her vows, and waited as her veil draped over the porcelain bath. The girls filed in, then together they filed out, and just like that this short, un-orchestrated, glimpse of pure anticipation was over. I didn’t know it then, but that photo, this moment, became my favourite from their day.
And it was hard to choose a favourite.
I love your work and I am coming to Oakville to get married July 20th. are you open that day?
Please let me know at your earliest convenience.
But after a few more emails, and a meeting in March I knew that July 20th would be very special.
The only way I can describe it, which is how Marieve and Jeff describe it, is this day of “Epic Love.”
