A lot can change in a year.
In January of 2013 I didn’t know how lucky I would be. Soon I would be looking forward to two photography conferences. One that verified to me what is so important about my work and the second which gave me some fresh ideas and some direction. I didn’t know I would get to travel to the Caribbean, across Canada, the west coast of the States, New York City, England and Scotland. I didn’t know that I would finally make the move I have been talking about for so long to Victoria BC, and take on the responsibility of moving a wedding photography business, and starting a second business.
I didn’t know I was about to make friends I think will last a lifetime. I didn’t know life was only going to get better.
I do know I have a lot of people to thank for that…
I can only say the biggest thank you to all the couples I worked for this year, it is always a privilege to be let into the lives of others. It was my pleasure to document every single wedding. To my friends in the photography community, thanks for pushing me to create, to be better, to dream big, and specifically the Victoria wedding photographers who have been nothing but welcoming and kind and even selling me a bike! To my girlfriends Sam, Brit, Shannon, Lauren, Maddy, Leslie, Alex, Tiggy and Jess – thanks for the adventure. For every person I met on my travels, I always have an open door and wherever you are in the world if you end up in my corner you’re welcome. Thank you for showing me your place in the world. And finally a thank you to my family and family that isn’t really family but is family. Deb and Paul, and also my grandparents for being hilarious, enjoying party hats at the dinner table, and taking me in during my transition from Ontario to BC.
And now a photo montage of some favourite bits of work, travel and my own life in 2013.
